5kW Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Stack Assembled and Tested by NIMTE

Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering (NIMTE), dedicating to developing, manufacturing and marketing solid oxide fuel cell technology (SOFC) that generates clean electricity in compact form for both mobile and stationary applications, today announced that an SOFC stack with new high output power was successfully assembled and tested.

The SOFC stack was assembled by 240 pieces anode-supported cells, which was divided into four stack series. Each stack series includes 60 pieces cells. The average open circuit voltage of single cell was more than 1. 1 V. The stack obtained a maximum power of 5.2 kW and operating power of 4.54 kW with the fuel utilization of 71.4% and 47% respectively. The high output power SOFC stack shows that the yield and consistency of single cells manufactured by SOFC group in NIMTE were greatly improved.

This program was supported by Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ningbo Government.
